French Immersion

School District No. 48 offers Early French Immersion for the Squamish area and Late French Immersion for Whistler and Pemberton. Please see below for more information.
Early French Immersion - Squamish Area
SD48 offers Early French Immersion Programming in the Squamish area at Ecole Squamish Elementary School and Ecole Garibaldi Highlands Elementary School at Kindergarten and grade 1 entry points. Students in other grade levels may also apply to French Immersion by contacting the school principal.
An Early French Immersion Information Session took place on January 11th, 2022.

Late French Immersion - Whistler and Pemberton Area


SD48 offers Late French Immersion Programming in the Pemberton and Whistler areas at Ecole Signal Hill Elementary School and Ecole Spring Creek Community School at grade 5 and 6 entry points. Students in other grade levels may also apply to French Immersion in Pemberton and Whistler by contacting the school principal. 

Late French Immersion Information Sessions took place on January 10th, 2022.
Early and Late French Immersion is a program of choice. Registrations will be placed on a waitlist until availability of space is confirmed at each site. Students will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
While on the French Immersion waitlist, students will maintain a seat at their English catchment school. When accepted to a program, the parent or guardian must fill in the French Immersion Parent Accept/Withdraw Form, confirming that they will either accept or withdraw the student's place.
