Student safety and well-being can be affected by experiences at school, at home and online. Explore the topics below for information, resources and guidance to help students and families understand and respond to common concerns.
If you have a concern about a student’s safety or well-being, connecting with the student’s school is often the best place to start. Depending on the nature of the concern, this may mean speaking with the student’s teacher, principal or another appropriate staff member.
Concerns about student safety or well-being can also be reported anonymously through ERASE Report It.
Sea to Sky School District takes all threats to student and school safety seriously. When behaviour may pose a risk of harm to a student, others or the school community, the district follows established threat assessment processes to help understand the situation, assess risk and determine appropriate supports and interventions.
Our Fair Notice: Response to Threat webpage provides information for students and families about what behaviours may result in a threat assessment, what the process involves and what to expect.
The Safe Schools Coordinator works with school teams, families and community partners to support safety, prevention and intervention efforts across the district. The Safe School Coordinator helps support schools in a number of ways:
- Violence Threat Risk Assessment (VTRA)
- Bullying and Cyberbullying Response
- Student Safety Planning
- ERASE Reporting Support
- Critical Incident Response
- Collaboration with Community Agencies
- Training and Consultation
