Mental Health & Wellbeing

Mental health and well-being are important parts of a student's overall health, development and ability to learn. Just like physical health, mental health can change over time, and students may need different types of support at different points in their lives.

Changes in mood, behaviour, relationships, school engagement or a student's ability to cope with everyday challenges can sometimes be signs that additional support may be helpful. Every student's experience is different, and reaching out early can help connect students with the right supports.

Where to Start

Students who are struggling or concerned about their mental health are encouraged to connect with a trusted adult, such as a parent or caregiver, teacher, school counsellor or other school staff member.

Parents and caregivers who are concerned about their child's mental health or well-being can also connect with their child's school to discuss available supports and appropriate next steps.
