Bullying
Every student deserves to feel safe, respected and supported at school. Understanding what bullying is and how to recognize it is an important part of creating a safe and caring school environment. Bullying is characterized by acts of intentional harm, repeated over time, in a relationship where an imbalance of power exists. Bullying can take many forms: verbal, physical, social, or electronic (cyberbullying).
What to Do if You Are Concerned About Bullying
Students are encouraged to speak with a trusted adult, such as a teacher, counsellor, principal or parent/caregiver, if they are experiencing or witnessing bullying. Families who have concerns are encouraged to connect with their child's school so staff can better understand the situation and determine appropriate next steps and supports.
Concerns can also be reported anonymously through erase Report It.
The Government of B.C.’s erase (expect respect & a safe education) website provides information, resources and tools to support students and families and help build safe, caring and inclusive school communities. Resources include information about bullying, online safety, social media and other student safety concerns.
