National Indigenous History Month - June: June is a significant month in Canada as it marks National Indigenous History Month, a time dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the vibrant history, heritage, resilience, and diversity of the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. This month provides an opportunity for Canadians to learn, reflect, and appreciate the contributions and experiences of Indigenous communities throughout the country. Virtual Truth and Reconciliation Week: The National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation is hosting a free five-day virtual event to continue the conversations from Every Child Matters. Open to all Canadian schools for youth grades 1-12, this event will provide historical workshops, exclusive video content and activities for students, supported by artistic and cultural performances by First Nations, Métis and Inuit artists. Districts are encouraged to reach out to the local Nations to collaborate and plan in preparation for this week and Orange Shirt Day.

 

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation at the SLCC: Join on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, in honour of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. We invite you to experience and connect with immersive programming and storytelling of Skwxwú7mesh and Líl̓wat7úl at the SLCC, the living culture of the original people of the shared territory where Whistler resides. National Day for Truth and Reconciliation event in Squamish: Squamish Nation (Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw) will lead a march on Sept. 30 from Winnipeg Street and Cleveland Avenue to O’Siyam Pavilion, starting at 12:30 p.m. 

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation event in Pemberton: “Sugarcane” will be screened on Sept. 27 at the Pemberton & District Community Centre. The documentary is about residential schools and the resilience of Indigenous Peoples. It will be followed by a Q&A with the film’s subject Ed Noisecat. Folks can RSVP via the event’s Facebook page.
