Squamish School Meal Program
![]()
Squamish CAN (Climate Action Network) has partnered with Sea to Sky School District (SD48) to extend its services by providing food for our School Meal Programs. The program is intended to ensure that all students can access nourishing food at school, regardless of family income and without stigma, while supporting the local economy through sourcing food from BC and local food suppliers and producers.
Students can access food through before-school breakfast programs and low-barrier fridges stocked with snacks and sandwiches. Elementary schools and St’a7mes also offer the School Lunch Program, which is offered on a pay-what-you-can basis.
Families use meal programs for many reasons, including saving time on lunches, enjoying meals with peers, easing financial pressure, or during temporary challenges.
Some programs operate on a pay-what-you-can model to support fairness and long-term sustainability as funding is limited. Given limited resources, we ask that families contribute what they can to ensure we can keep offering the program into the future to benefit the community!
