Life transitions, social pressure, and the digital world can make worry a daily companion for children and teens. But how can we tell the difference between anxiety that’s a normal part of growing up and anxiety that signals for support? Join Dr. Kimberley Da Silva, registered psychologist from the North Shore Anxiety Clinic and Dr. Juliana Negreiros, founder of Beacon Psychology in Port Moody and codeveloper of the EASE (Everyday Anxiety Strategies for Educations) program for an engaging and practical conversation on understanding anxiety in young people. This session will explore the full spectrum of anxiety, from everyday stress to anxiety disorders and help participants recognize when worry becomes a concern. Attendees will learn practical, evidence-based strategies to support children and teens including how social media and modern pressures can amplify anxiety and when additional support may be needed. The discussion will also highlight how anxiety is currently supported with BC schools, key school based mental health practices and how educators, families and clinicians can work together to better support students.
