Steps to Set up an Apprenticeship

apprenticeIf you are working in a trade you may be eligible for the Youth Work in Trades program. Students take many different paths to obtain an apprenticeship, but the common factor to all is the ability to demonstrate exceptional employability skills. Employers value hard-working individuals, who show up to work on time, who are eager to learn, who stay off their cell phones and who demonstrate pride in the work they are doing.  If you have an opportunity to sign up as an apprentice then you should:

  • Contact the Career Program Office and meet with the career program teacher in your school.
  • Register for MWRK 11A/11B and MWRK 12A/12B
  • Obtain the paperwork to sign up as a youth apprentice and have it signed by yourself, your parents and your employer.
  • Return the paperwork to the Career Program Office.
