2025 Pit Cook at Signal Hill Elementary School
On October 23rd, Signal Hill Elementary celebrated the harvest season in the best way possible—with their annual Harvest Pit Cook! It was a beautiful fall day filled with community, culture, and gratitude as everyone enjoyed delicious vegetables, salmon, and bannock together. The event was a true full-circle moment for students, who planted seeds in the spring, tended the garden, and later harvested and prepared food to share with their community. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the incredible volunteers, especially Tanina Williams, Claire Fuller, Lisa Vertefeuille, and Megan Black, who started the fire at 2:30 a.m. and brought energy and joy throughout the day. Special appreciation also to the Pemberton Secondary School Indigenous Leadership students for leading beautiful drumming and singing, adding deep meaning and connection to the celebration.
